Did you know that there is a way to provide crypto-asset services without going through the application process above?  In accordance with Article 60 of the MiCAR, certain authorised financial entities can provide all or some crypto-asset services in relation to specified equivalent services without obtaining authorisation as a crypto-asset service provider if they notify the Central Bank of Ireland with certain information before providing those services for the first time. CLICK HERE

Please note that you cannot submit an application to the Central Bank until you have been invited to do so.  This is because you must complete what is known as the Key Facts Document and meet with the Central Bank of Ireland before you may file a CASP Application. CLICK HERE

We recommend all persons seeking to be MiCAR authorised in Ireland to read the Central Bank of Ireland MiCAR Authorisation and Supervision Expectations issued (December 2024).  The document applies to issuers of Asset Referenced Tokens, issuers of Electronic Money Tokens as well as applicant firms seeking authorisation as a Crypto Asset Service Provider (‘CASP’). The Central Bank has an agreed MiCAR Risk Appetite that guides our approach when authorising and supervising issuers and CASPs under MiCAR. CLICK HERE
